Overview

Just as businesses were getting used to how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be leveraged to work more efficiently, the world was confronted with the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Now, more than ever, it is imperative to understand the benefits of Data Analytics and AI, and how that can be used to work through the crisis and beyond. However, it is essential to be mindful of the responsible use of AI, especially since data in question at present may be classified as sensitive.

Join us at this online event as our speakers will talk through the importance of Responsible AI during the pandemic - how AI can be leveraged and what to keep in mind to stay responsible to the world, the businesses and their customers.

Speakers' Profiles:

ProfVirginia Dignum, Professor of Social and Ethical Artificial Intelligence, University

Virginia Dignum is Professor of Social and Ethical Artificial Intelligence at University, Sweden and associated with the TU Delft in the Netherlands. She is the scientific director of WASP-HS, the Wallenberg Program on Humanities and Society for AI, Autonomous Systems and Software. She is a Fellow of the European Artificial Intelligence Association (EURAI), a member of the European Commission High Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence, of the World Economic Forum's Global Artificial Intelligence Council, of the Executive Committee of the IEEE Initiative on Ethically Aligned Design, and a founding member of ALLAI-NL, the Dutch AI Alliance.

She is the author of Responsible Artificial Intelligence developing and using AI in a responsible way - published by Springer in 2019. She has a PHD in Artificial Intelligence in 2004, from Utrecht University and she was awarded the prestigious Veni grant by the NWO (Dutch Organization for Scientific Research) in 2006.

Sunita Kannan, Data & AI Solutions Lead - APJ, Microsoft Corporation

Sunita is currently the Data & AI Solutions Lead in APJ at Microsoft. She has a wealth of experience in managing & delivering Advanced Analytics and Artificial Intelligence work for some of the largest Fortune 500 companies across a variety of industries.

Prior to Microsoft, Sunita was leading the space of Data, Analytics and AI across a number of leading consulting firms, with the most recent being Accenture in which she was the AI Advisory and Responsible AI Lead for APAC.

Before consulting, Sunita was a PhD Quantum Physics student at the University of Colorado (Boulder). She holds a Master of Science in Quantum Physics and a Bachelors in Mathematics and Physics (distinction and honours) from Wellesley College (MA, USA).

Sunita's research & interpersonal skills have helped her achieve a solid balance between EQ and IQ. With this, Sunita constantly aims to transcend the norm and deliver real and immersive experiences for her clients.

Moderator's Profile:

Tuan Nguyen, Deputy Director - Community, SGInnovate

Tuan leads the Community team at SGInnovate, a Singapore Government owned organisation that invests in and helps build deep tech startups and talent, and engages with an ecosystem focused on Artificial Intelligence, MedTech, Quantum Technologies, Autonomous Systems, and also the ethical and responsible use of technology. Tuan has built a deep tech community of more than 35,000 entrepreneurs and talent, investors, corporate innovators, scientists and researchers, government partners, for the purpose of knowledge sharing, collaboration opportunities, and company building.

Tuan has also conceptualised and curated the Deep Tech Summit, a best in-class gathering of industry leaders, innovators and investors to discuss the impact of frontier technologies such as Artificial Intelligence in our future economy and society.
