On the occasion of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, we have the distinct pleasure of inviting you to an event on further linking the European, Singaporean and broader Southeast Asian technology and innovation ecosystems.
Cyprus’s technology and innovation ecosystem - geographically situated at the crossroads of Europe, the Middle East and Africa - has made impressive strides over the past decade. Cyprus now ranks number 25 on the World Innovation Index. Technology and innovation are a strong driver of the Cypriot economy’s competitiveness, in line with the competitiveness agenda of the European Union.
The Chief Scientist of the Republic of Cyprus and select Cypriot Start-ups will be showcasing some of the achievements and advantages of the Cypriot ecosystem and ways in which it can contribute to the links between Europe, Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Demetris Skourides, Chief Scientist and Head of the National Research & Innovation Foundation , Republic of Cyprus
Demetris Skourides is a visionary leader in research, innovation, and technology. He drives the country’s strategic direction in science and technology while shaping global conversations on AI, digital transformation, and innovation policy. He chairs the AI Taskforce and the Board of Directors of the Research and Innovation Foundation, and he holds influential roles as a board member of JRC, a member of ESAF, the Future 100 Global Power Leaders, the Ignite Cyprus Initiative, and PRIMA: Partnership for Research & Innovation. He has worked with technology giants Oracle and Amazon Web Services.
