Dr Lim Jui

Chief Executive Officer

As Chief Executive Officer of SGInnovate, Dr Lim Jui has overall leadership of the organisation that is committed to helping entrepreneurial scientists build and scale Deep Tech startups. At SGInnovate, Jui and his team work closely with a wide range of partners and co-investors to back this unique group of founders, who are looking to solve global challenges with their research-based solutions. This is done through equity-based investments, access to the Deep Tech ecosystem and talent network, as well as by providing business-building support.

While he trained in medicine, Jui had spent most of his professional life in the business of science and innovation. He was Director of Investments, Bio*One Capital; CEO of Merlin MD, a medical device company; Executive Director of the Medical Engineering Research and Commercialisation Initiative (MERCI) at the National University of Singapore (NUS); and Programme Director of the Singapore-Stanford Biodesign Programme (SSB), a joint venture between the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and Stanford University. Before joining SGInnovate, Jui was CEO of NTUitive, the innovation and enterprise company of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

He currently serves on the advisory boards of IPOS International, the business arm of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), and several startup companies. He was previously a board member of the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) in Singapore.

Jui received his Bachelor of Arts (BA, Biological Sciences and East Asian Studies) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) at Columbia University. He then obtained his Master of Medicine (Anaesthesiology and Surgical Intensive Care) from NUS. He remains a registered medical practitioner today.

Mr Heng Soon Pang

Chief Operating Officer

Heng Soon brings with him 30 years of in-depth knowledge and experience in technology startups investments. As the Chief Operating Officer at SGInnovate, he is responsible for operationalising strategies and directions set by the Board, promoting strong corporate governance and ensuring the integrity and efficiency of business operations. He oversees the Corporate Services division of SGInnovate, which comprises Human Resource, Finance, Procurement, IT, Admin and Facilities.

Prior to his current role, Heng Soon was active in sales and business development, having had leadership roles in the precision manufacturing and automation equipment sector.

Heng Soon started his career at Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB) where he led efforts in identifying promising Singapore companies for targeted development. While at EDB Investments, Heng Soon was involved in direct investments into high-growth, US-based technology startups.

He graduated as a Diplom-Ingenieur from Hamburg, Germany in 1985.

Mr Hsien-Hui Tong

Executive Director – Investments

Hsien-Hui brings with him in-depth knowledge and experience in the Business Development and Venture Capital spaces across Australia, Europe, Singapore and the US.

As the Executive Director, Investments, Hsien-Hui leads SGInnovate's investments efforts, from working with research scientists to create and launch venture-fundable solutions based on their Deep Tech research core, to identifying high-potential, Deep Tech startups working on areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Autonomous Vehicles, Advanced Manufacturing, AgriFoodTech, MedTech and Quantum Computing.

Prior to joining SGInnovate, he was the Managing Partner, Asia Pacific for Wassax Ventures. He had also served as the CEO of the National University of Singapore Society (NUSS) and Vice President at Staples. In the early 2000s, he co-founded a data mining company, which was sold to a global bank two years later.

Hsien-Hui graduated in 1998 from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Engineering.

Ms Juliana Lim

Executive Director – People

As Executive Director, People, Juliana tackles the same challenges surrounding tech talent that many companies and industries face but approaches them differently. She leads SGInnovate’s work in strengthening individuals’ capabilities in the Deep Tech space, building a strong mentors & multipliers network, as well as in expanding the talent marketplace, where ambitious and capable people and high-potential startups can seek each other out.

Working with like-minded partners such as large corporates and institutes of higher learning, Juliana and her team have executed various learning and development programmes that have benefitted more than 400 Deep Tech talent in AI and Blockchain. In building the Deep Tech talent network, she is focused on three main areas – targetting new pipelines, increasing touchpoints and attracting talent to startups.

Under her leadership, the team has also put together the first-ever Deep Tech focused apprenticeship initiative – the Summation Programme. A curated pool of students will partner experienced software and engineering professionals to embark on innovative projects focusing on areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning and blockchain.

She has also successfully launched the by-invite-only Sundown Drinks series, where industry experts, entrepreneurs and technical practitioners gather to discuss and debate on important and trending topics such as “Looking Beyond ICOs”; “Future of Automation”; and “Pushing the Boundaries of Biomedical Tech”.

Prior to joining SGInnovate, Juliana had been in various roles across the Human Resource function in organisations such as SP Group, NTUC First Campus (NFC), the National Heritage Board, Central Provident Fund Board and the Ministry of Education. She has led teams in talent attraction, benefits and rewards, learning and development and business partnering.

Juliana has a Bachelor of Economics (1st Class Hons) from Murdoch University and a Master in Strategic Human Resource Management from the University of New South Wales.
