Speakers' Profiles:

Dr Marcelo H Ang Jr, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Director, Advanced Robotics Centre, National University of Singapore

Dr Marcelo H Ang Jr received his Bachelor of Science degrees (Cum Laude) in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management Engineering from the De La Salle University, Manila, The Philippines in 1981. He then went on to complete his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Hawaii in 1985, and his Master of Science and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York in 1986 and 1988 respectively.

His work experience includes heading the Technical Training Division of Intel's Assembly and Test Facility in the Philippines, research positions at the East-West Center in Hawaii and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a faculty position as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Rochester, New York.

In 1989, Dr Ang joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the National University of Singapore, where he is currently an Associate Professor, with a Joint Appointment at the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering & Management. He also is the Acting Director of the Advanced Robotics Centre. His research interests span the areas of robotics, mechatronics, and applications of intelligent systems methodologies. He teaches both at the graduate and undergraduate levels in the areas of robotics, creativity and innovation, applied electronics and instrumentation, advanced computing, product design and realisation. He is also active in consulting work in these areas.

In addition to academic and research activities, he is actively involved in the Singapore Robotic Games as its founding chairman and the World Robot Olympiad as a member of the Advisory Council.

Shaun Koo, Chief Technology Officer & Co-Founder, H3 Zoom.AI

As an experienced technologist in both hardware and software startups, Shaun Koo leads product development and solutions engineering at H3 Zoom.AI. Before that, he co-founded an Architectural acoustics firm servicing companies such as Google, IBM, Airbnb, NUS, Unilever, SCAPE, and many others within the built environment.

In parallel, he provided technical consultancy for an AI health tech startup, which serviced clients such as Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and Changi Hospital Group (CHG). Prior to this, he led Application services at SPS Commerce, a NASDAQ listed supply-chain analytics firm, as well as having worked at HBO New York.

Louis Loo, CEO & Founder, Solustar

Louis Loo is the CEO and Founder of Solustar Pte Ltd.

Louis is a veteran in the IT industry. For the past 30 years, Louis has experience in starting startups, having started an IT distribution company before Solustar, as well as corporate experience in major local and foreign multi-national companies such as Challenger, TCS Management Group, Nortel, Oracle, Juniper and Software AG.

In his early years, he was a known speaker specialising in Call Centre workforce management in the Asian circuit. Over the years, his experience expanded to organisation management, retail management, and operational software for daily operations to enhance the customer service experience. In recent years, he has envisioned and developed deep tech encompassing in humanoid robotics such as Artificial Intelligence, facial recognition, natural language processing and navigation.

Dr Jianmin Zheng, Associate Professor, School of Computer Engineering and Co-Director, Institute for Media Innovation, Nanyang Technological University

Dr Jianmin Zheng is a tenured associate professor in the School of Computer Engineering at Nanyang Technological University. He received his Bachelor's and PhD from Zhejiang University, and his research interests include computer-aided geometric design, computer graphics, geometric modelling, CAD, Visualisation, and interactive digital media.

Dr Zheng has done significant research work in his research areas (such as T-spline technology, subdivision surfaces, rational geometric continuity, surface/surface intersection, curve/surface implicitization, and digital media processing algorithms) and published over 150 papers in international journals and conferences including ACM SIGGRAPH, ACM Transactions on Graphics, IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing. He has served as a program committee member for many international conferences (e.g. the inaugural ACM SIGGRAPH Asia 2008). Dr Zheng is an associate editor of "The Visual Computer" and "Visual Computing for Industry, Biomedicine, and Art".

Vivek Parasher, Director of Business Development, Venture Corporation Limited and Mentor, The Institution of Engineers Singapore - Incubator and Accelerator (IES-INCA)

Vivek Parasher is an industry veteran with over 30 years of experience. He completed his undergraduate studies in Electronics and Communication Engineering from India. He later completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, USA.

Vivek has worked at various leadership positions in large tech corporations like HP, Wipro and Venture. His areas of expertise are Long Term Investment Strategy Development, Future Products Marketing / Product Management, Product Life Cycle Management, Customer Experience and Quality Management, Project Management. He is a mentor with The Institution of Engineers Singapore - Incubator and Accelerator (IES-INCA).
