Overview

With climate change intensifying rainfall patterns and wind speeds, wind-driven rain (WDR) has become a critical performance consideration in building design—particularly for high-rise developments and dense urban environments. Poorly designed façades can lead to water ingress, material degradation, occupant discomfort, and increased maintenance costs.

This webinar introduces the application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) as a powerful, performance-based tool to assess and mitigate wind-driven rain risks during the design stage. By simulating wind flow patterns around buildings and predicting rain impingement on façades, CFD enables data-driven decisions on façade geometry, shading elements, openings, and envelope detailing.

The session will demonstrate how CFD analysis supports resilient and sustainable building design by- identifying high risk rain impact zones, optimizing façade configurations, reducing water ingress, enhancing durability and lifecycle performance.
