Job Description

Position: Scientific Business Development Associate

We are looking for someone who can sit at the intersection of business, R&D, project management and technical sales – supporting core business operations, engaging with scientists and customers on technical topics, and helping drive adoption of our products.

 

Responsibilities:

Business & Commercial

  • Assist in business strategy formulation, planning, development and execution, including go-to-market plans and partnership development.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis (with a focus on biologics, CDMOs, and cell & gene therapy) to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Prepare presentations, proposals and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including scientifically-informed pitch decks and product briefs.
  • Support lead generation, sales pipeline tracking, and CRM updates.
  • Manage and grow relationships with clients and partners, including technical stakeholders (R&D scientists, process development teams, etc.).
  • Attend client meetings, site visits and industry events; capture technical requirements and translate them into internal action items.

Technical / R&D Support

  • Work closely with the R&D team to understand product data, experimental results and use cases, and translate them into clear value propositions for customers.
  • Assist in basic bench-level activities under supervision, such as:
  • Sample labelling and logistics
  • Recording and organizing experimental data
  • Maintaining inventories of reagents and lab consumables
  • Help prepare technical documentation (e.g. product datasheets, protocols, FAQs, slide decks summarizing assay results).
  • Support coordination of pilot studies, evaluations and feasibility projects with customers (e.g. tracking experimental timelines, collating result summaries, following up on technical feedback).

Technical Sales / Project Management

  • Join technical sales calls and demos with the scientific team to help explain product features, experimental data, and performance claims in a clear, structured way.
  • Gather and document customer technical requirements and pain points, and relay them to internal R&D and product teams.
  • Assist in building and maintaining a knowledge base of case studies, application notes, and success stories to support the commercial team.

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Science/engineering background or strong interest in biotech is a plus.
  • Prior experience in project management or coordination (internships included).
  • Comfortable reading and summarizing scientific/technical content (papers, posters, application notes) into business-relevant insights.
  • Proficient in MS Office / Google Workspace; familiarity with CRM tools and basic data analysis (e.g. Excel, Sheets; Python/R is a plus).
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, R&D-driven environment.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-driven with a positive attitude and willingness to learn both business and scientific aspects of the work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate clearly with both commercial and technical stakeholders.
