RedFox is a biotech dedicated to developing first-in-class drugs for underserved diseases with no approved therapies. Our lead pipeline candidate is a preclinical-stage small molecule, for an orphan cornea condition without any FDA-approved therapies.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Formulation Scientist to join our R&D team and lead the development of sustained-release ocular formulations for RedFox’s pipeline drug candidates. This role is central to advancing our preclinical and clinical programs, bringing critical technical expertise to RedFox. He or she will work closely with our Chief Scientific and Medical Officer, the former Chief Science Officer of a Pharma company.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in formulation development, familiarity with Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) requirements for IND filings, and a working knowledge of drug pharmacokinetics relevant to ocular delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, and optimize sustained-release ocular formulations for pipeline drug candidates.
- Conduct pre-formulation studies, excipient compatibility assessments, and stability testing.
- Collaborate with analytical, preclinical, and regulatory teams to ensure formulations meet CMC and regulatory standards.
- Apply knowledge of drug pharmacokinetics to guide formulation design and predict in vivo performance.
- Support technology transfer to external partners and contract development/manufacturing organizations (CDMOs).
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Biomedical, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 2 – 5 years of relevant industry or academic experience in formulation development (ophthalmic or parenteral preferred).
- Familiarity with CMC requirements for IND filings and regulatory expectations for ophthalmic products.
- Basic understanding of drug pharmacokinetics and its application to formulation design.
