Description

Tack One is a Singapore-based technology company specialising in location intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. Through its consumer brand, Tack GPS, and enterprise division, TackEvo, the company offers a range of products designed to enhance personal safety, asset tracking, and environmental monitoring.

Project role: Engineering for Embedded Systems in IoT, Industrial and AI Applications

They are seeking a hands-on Embedded Systems Engineer keen to develop skills in end-to-end embedded electronic solutions, including hardware design and integration, firmware development, and practical problem-solving. While prior experience in hardware design and debugging, real-world testing, troubleshooting, and optimising embedded systems is beneficial, they value someone with a drive to learn and grow. The candidate should be comfortable reviewing and collaborating on PCB designs to ensure optimal system performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop embedded systems for IoT and industrial applications, ensuring robustness and reliability in outdoor environments.

  • Design and integrate low-power microcontroller-based solutions with various industrial sensors (I2C, SPI, RS485, UART, 4-20mA, etc.).

  • Implement and optimise embedded firmware for microcontrollers (STM32, ESP32, or similar) using C/C++/Arudino.

  • Develop low-power firmware techniques to maximise battery life in remote deployments.

  • Conduct hands-on hardware debugging, troubleshooting, and validation of embedded systems in both lab and field environments.

  • Work closely with the external team to ensure functional and efficient hardware integration.

  • Evaluate and select sensor technologies for real-time environmental monitoring applications.

  • Implement wireless communication protocols (BLE, LoRa, NB-IoT, or LTE-M) to transmit sensor data.

  • Collaborate with cloud engineers to integrate sensor data into backend platforms via MQTT, CoAP, or HTTP.

  • Optimise hardware and firmware for cost-effective mass production while maintaining performance and reliability.

  • Work closely with manufacturing facilities to support the manufacturing process, including design for manufacturability (DFM) and testability (DFT).
