Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist with a strong background in biology to join our interdisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing and modeling large-scale biological datasets to uncover meaningful insights that drive scientific understanding and product innovation at HistoIndex. The Data Scientist will contribute to the development of robust predictive models with clinical impact, for research and commercialization, and will have a strong scientific understanding of HistoIndex’s technology, services and activities.
This role requires expertise in data processing, statistical analysis, and machine learning, along with the ability to translate complex biological data into actionable findings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and interpret large-scale internal and external datasets
- Develop and implement statistical models to extract insights from complex data
- Clean, preprocess, and manage structured and unstructured biological data
- Visualize and communicate data-driven findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Develop and validate predictive models supporting clinical decision-making in relevant healthcare settings
- Stay current with advancements in data science, computational biology, and relevant technologies
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Biology, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computational Biology, or related field
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages used in data science
- Expertise in statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, and predictive analytics
- Experience with data manipulation tools and libraries and data visualization tools
- Experience working with large and complex datasets (e.g., next-generation sequencing, clinical trial data, image analysis data)
- Proficiency in machine learning frameworks to build, train, and deploy machine learning models (preferred)
- Proficiency in implementing structured and effective documentation practices for algorithm design and model development, ensuring transparency, reproducibility, and cross-functional collaboration
- Background in analyzing biological images such as microscopy or histopathology images (preferred)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
