Prefer is a Singapore-based startup making coffee without coffee beans. They upcycle and ferment food manufacturing by-products, such as barley, bread, and soy, to create coffee flavours. They are building their pilot production facility and looking for fermentation/bioprocess engineers, brewers, or application scientists to test their pilot processes and make coffee.
Project role: Pilot-Scale Bioprocessing for Valorisation and Biosynthesis of Flavours
Prefer's current manufacturing process is labour-intensive and has a ceiling of 50 kg/week.
They want to understand how the team can tap on automation and IoT to improve efficiency and safety in their processes; explore creative ways of problem-solving and design equipment or processes to optimise their manufacturing steps; and demonstrate scalability of their solutions.
Following a successful project implementation, Prefer may partner with FMCG/CPG MNCs to collaborate with them and build larger future plants together.
Skills: Proficiency and experience in Bioprocessing, Fermentation or Food Manufacturing and Brewing is preferred.
