Description

Galamad Aerospace leverages technological advancements to produce capable and cost-efficient satellites.

Project Role: Electronics Engineer (Spacecraft Attitude Determination and Control System)

Develop electronic systems for spacecraft, including satellites. This role unites hardware and software thus enabling you to interface with the physical environment and build models that map environmental inputs to physical actions in the environment. Our company will support your learning journey to achieve the tasks outlined below.

Trainee's responsibilities for this role include:

Hardware:

  1. Building electronic circuits to control motors, magnetorquers and solenoid valves.
  2. Embedding microcontrollers into the electronics circuit and programming the microcontroller to be able to communicate with the central satellite computer; this includes implementing interfaces such as UART, CAN, I2C, and SPI.
  3. Building circuits for voltage conversion and current sensing.
  4. Building circuitry to interface with sensors such as fine sun sensors, coarse sun sensors, magnetometers, GNSS receivers and gyroscopes.
  5. Rigorous testing and verification of circuits.
  6. Choosing the appropriate PCB fabrication class.

Software:

  1. Programming micontrollers such as STM32-based or full Linux-based systems.
  2. Developing and implementing sensor algorithms for data cleaning and processing.
  3. Develop ML models, especially reinforcement learning models, for controlling the spacecraft.
  4. Developing the ADCS application which controls the different attitude (pointing) modes of the spacecraft.
