Overview
For most of computing’s history, the barrier to building software was syntax. You couldn’t tell a computer what to do until you learned its language. AI has quietly reversed that. Today, the scarce skill is context: understanding your problem, your data and your users well enough to describe them clearly. Given that, the code largely writes itself. Drawing on 34 years in the Asian IT industry building software, data platforms and app development tools, Jin Chong walks through what this shift means in practice, what AI coding tools genuinely do well, where they still fail, and why people who deeply understand a business problem now have an advantage over people who merely know how to code. The session includes a live “vibe coding” segment, where an audience volunteer with no programming background describes an app in plain language and watches it built on the spot. Participants leave with a realistic picture of what is now possible, and a concrete way to start building their first app.

Jin Chong is a versatile, disruptive developer with thirty-four years experience in the Asian IT ecosphere. He is founder and managing director of 7-Network Pte Ltd., in which capacity he has worked with some of the top companies in the world including Murex, Phillip Morris, Fuji Xerox, Aspen Insurance (UK), Euromonitor International, and McDonalds Asia Pacific. In 2017, Jin founded JET Workflow, a codeless app-based solution for enterprise workflow processes. JET allows users to freely create mobile apps without prior knowledge of programming or coding.
