Overview

What Is This Event About

The 4th AI4Good Family Hackathon is a full-day, onsite responsible AI education and hackathon event for children aged 5 to 15 and their parents, co-organised by EDUTech Future and ACE.SG at the ACE Ideation Centre at one-north.

This is not a screen-time session. It is Singapore's most practitioner-led, industry-grounded AI literacy hackathon designed specifically for children and families. The morning is a structured responsible AI and media literacy workshop. The afternoon is a live hackathon where children pitch AI-powered solutions to a jury of industry professionals.

Children leave with more than a certificate and prizes. They leave with a working understanding of how AI shapes their world, where its boundaries lie, and what their role in it can be.

Why This Event Exists

59% of children aged 12 to 17 are already using AI to find information without understanding how it works or where it fails (Common Sense Media, March 2026 report). Singapore's Ministry of Education Responsible AI Framework and National AI Strategy 2.0 are both explicit: the next generation must develop AI agency, not just AI access.

The majority of children's technology programmes in Singapore focus on tool use. This programme focuses on what comes before the tool: critical thinking, media literacy, internet literacy, and the ethical foundations that make AI adoption safe and responsible for young users.

At EDUTech Future, responsible AI comes first. The tool comes second. That sequencing is not a philosophy. It is the curriculum architecture.
