Overview:
Deep Tech Central is SGInnovate’s flagship digital platform, powering the connections that drive the deep tech economy. As we expand our digital capabilities, we are establishing a dedicated internal engineering core within the Digital Strategy & Analytics team.
Role
We are seeking a Technical Lead to take end-to-end technical ownership of the platform. This is a high-growth role involving hands-on engineering, leading a team of developers, and shaping our engineering practices ground up.
The role provides a unique vantage point, gaining exposure to other functions within the team such as product strategy, data analytics, and research. The successful candidate will support and partner closely with the Lead of Digital Strategy & Analytics.
Responsibilities
1. Technical Ownership & Architecture:
- Take full ownership of the Deep Tech Central platform codebase and infrastructure.
- Review current architecture to identify optimisation opportunities for scalability, security, and performance.
- Drive decisions on tech stack evolution and cloud infrastructure (AWS) management to support data-driven initiatives.
2. Hands-on Development:
- Develop clean, maintainable, and efficient code for key platform features.
- Drive the delivery of the roadmap, ensuring technical execution aligns with the team's strategic goals.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement robust CI/CD pipelines.
3. Team Leadership:
- Build, mentor, and lead a lean, agile team of Full Stack Developers.
- Conduct code reviews and uphold best practices in software engineering
- Translate strategic business requirements into technical specifications and manage sprint planning.
4. Strategic Leadership:
- Collaborate with the Lead of Digital Strategy & Analytics to translate business vision into digital reality.
- Provide technical input and oversight across Product Management, Data Analytics, and Research functions
- Provide technical feasibility assessments for new business initiatives and digital experiments, including AI-related initiatives.
Requirement
- Experience: 4 to 7 years of hands-on full-stack software engineering experience.
- Tech Stack: Strong proficiency in modern web frameworks (e.g., React.js, Vue.js) and backend technologies (e.g., Node.js, Python, or Go).
- Data Fluency: Since you sit within the Digital Strategy & Analytics team, familiarity with database design (SQL/NoSQL) and data pipelines is highly valued.
- Engineering Best Practices: Experience with Cloud platforms, RESTful APIs, and DevOps basics.
- Leadership Potential: Proven track record of mentoring junior colleagues, leading small project squads, or acting as a technical point of contact.
