Role
As a member of the Startup Innovation team, you will operate in a highly agile unit dedicated to helping Singapore’s Deep Tech startups gain commercial traction with large corporations.
Working closely with the Director and Team Lead, your primary mandate is to own the critical process of finding the right deep tech solutions and onboarding startups. You will execute the foundational steps of the corporate-startup matchmaking value chain and provide the necessary efforts to bridge the gap between MNCs/GLCs and early-stage deep tech ventures (in sectors like BioMed, Semiconductors, Advanced Manufacturing, and Quantum). For high-stakes engagements and complex C-suite negotiations, you will actively shadow the Team Lead and Director, provide essential support while learning to master the full matchmaking process.
Responsibilities:
- Startup Onboarding & Sourcing: Take ownership of relevant deep tech solutions by mapping corporate pain points to startup capabilities across SGInnovate’s portfolio and the wider ecosystem (including A*STAR, NUS, NTU, and SUTD). Lead the onboarding of suitable startups into the programme.
- Startup Coaching & Pilot Preparation: Work closely with deep tech founders ahead of corporate engagements. Conduct business model workshops, translate technical value propositions into clear enterprise ROI narratives, and prepare startups for technical and legal due diligence.
- Deal Flow & Pipeline Management: Manage end-to-end startup pipeline activities using internal CRM and directories. Track deals from early-stage scouting through to pilot execution, and proactively surface legal or procurement blockers for senior-level intervention.
- Matchmaking Support & Shadowing: Facilitate initial 1-to-1 corporate-startup matchmaking sessions and document key technical and commercial parameters. Support senior leaders in complex negotiations and C-suite engagements, ensuring pilots progress effectively.
- Ecosystem Orchestration: Maintain and strengthen referral networks across ecosystem partners to ensure a consistent pipeline of vetted startups, while avoiding duplication of mandates across stakeholders.
Requirements:
- 4 – 8+ years of experience in B2B partnerships, corporate innovation, VC, venture building, or startup ecosystems.
- Proven commercial acumen with a strong understanding of enterprise B2B sales cycles, corporate procurement constraints, and legal compliance processes.
- Exceptional facilitation and stakeholder management skills; capable of holding your own in rooms with highly technical founders while supporting senior leadership in executive corporate settings.
- Highly operational and data-driven; comfortable managing complex CRMs and tracking KPIs (Pilot Conversion Rates, Commercial Value Generated).
- Bonus: Prior experience working directly inside a deep tech startup or a corporate open innovation function.
