Remote Patient Monitoring: The New Cybercrime Target?

Presented by SGInnovate

The healthcare industry has remained the top data breach target for eleven years in a row. This does not come as a surprise as highly sensitive and personally identifiable information held by healthcare systems is an attractive target. After all, it contains all the data used for identity theft.

While hospitals and health systems may have well-honed cybersecurity protocols to prevent or mitigate such attacks, the growth of care-at-home technologies – including remote patient monitoring and hospital at home – has created another layer of concern. Patients monitored or managed at home using a health system's technology likely do not have such strict safeguards in place. In this interconnected world, patients could spread ransomware or malware to their providers.

In this session, join our panel of experts as they discuss the lack of awareness and concern for cybersecurity issues in remote patient monitoring, methods for evaluating those cybersecurity risks, and whether the security risk outweighs the clinical benefit, amongst others.
