At SGInnovate's upcoming Investors Night, we have invited David Sheppard and Florence Joffroy-Black from MedWorld Advisors to share with us on exit strategies for MedTech startups. They will share the various exit strategies available for MedTech startups at the early, growth and mature stages, as well as the current trends of acquisition by private equity vs strategic buyers. The programme will then be followed by a fireside chat moderated by SGInnovate's Founding CEO, Steve Leonard, and pitches by carefully selected MedTech startups.

Florence Joffroy-Black, CEO, President & Founder, MedWorld Advisors
Florence Joffroy-Black is a medical device marketing executive with more than 25 years of expertise in the international markets arena. She is an expert in setting marketing strategies while also successfully creating and implementing strategic roadmaps in global environments. Florence is also a driver of key strategic Merger & Acquisition (M&A) and licensing plays to increase inorganic value.
Florence’s experience includes as Global Vice President and Global Director of Strategic Marketing, for corporations big and small, Public and Private (including Private Equity-Backed) companies such as Draeger Medical, Itamar Medical, Beaver Visitec International. She was also a marketing expert and consultant for corporations such as HP Medical, Tyco Electronics and TRW. Florence was involved in go-to-market strategies on every major developed continent (Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, North and South America).
Florence holds a double Master’s degree in Marketing and Finance. Born in France and now living in the US, she truly has a global presence, knowledge and insight.
Dave Sheppard, Principal & Founder, MedWorld Advisors
As a leader in the medical device industry for more than 30 years, Dave Sheppard has over 19 years of experience in M&A, both on the buying and selling side. He has also held President, General Manager and Vice President roles for companies of various sizes, and completed distribution and licensing deals with over 100 international businesses, including significant Fortune 500 companies (i.e. GE, Philips, Siemens, etc.) as well as smaller entities.
Dave's global network includes thousands of contacts with strategic industry leaders, large and small. He was involved in go-to-market strategies on every major developed continent (Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, North and South America), and has worked in startups (including working pre-IPO on a successful IPO company). Dave has also successfully obtained Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) growth through successful M&A activities.
Steve Leonard, Founding CEO, SGInnovate
Steve Leonard is a technology-industry leader with a wide range of experience, having played key roles in building several global companies in areas such as Software, Hardware and Services. Although born in the US, Steve considers himself a member of the larger global community, having lived and worked outside the US for more than 25 years.
In his current role as the Founding Chief Executive Officer of SGInnovate – a private limited company wholly owned by the Singapore Government – Steve has been chartered to lead an organisation that builds ‘deep-tech’ companies. Capitalising on the science and technology research for which Singapore has gained a global reputation, Steve’s team works with local and international partners, including universities, venture capitalists, and major corporations to help technical founders imagine, start and scale globally-relevant early-stage technology companies from Singapore.
Prior to his role as the CEO of SGInnovate, Steve served three years as the Executive Deputy Chairman of the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA), a government statutory board under the purview of Singapore’s Ministry of Communications and Information. In that role, he had executive responsibility at the national level for various aspects of the information technology and telecommunications industries in Singapore.
Steve serves on the advisory boards of a range of universities and organisations in Singapore. He also serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director at Singapore Post Ltd (SingPost), a global leader in e-commerce logistics; and AsiaSat, a Hong Kong Stock Exchange-listed commercial operator of communication spacecraft.
