This Deep Learning Developer Series is a hands-on and cutting-edge series is targeted at developers and data scientists who are looking to build AI Applications for real world use. Broken into 5 modules, attain a "Deep Learning Specialist" certification when you complete all modules. Start with this upcoming Jump-start workshop and look forward to the advanced modules that will be launched soon. 

The Jump-start workshop is the first module of the Deep Learning Developer Series and is a pre-requisite to the advanced Deep Learning modules. This workshop is designed to introduce you to the skills needed to start your journey as a Deep Learning Developer. It goes through both the overall concepts and techniques for not only understanding but building a variety of Deep Learning models, for tabular data, image data, audio data and text data. 

The 2-day packed curriculum will also cover many of the fundamentals and models needed in Deep Learning projects. We will expound real world examples of when to use each type of technique to fit the various data science problems at hand. To empower you to with the ability to take your new found Deep Learning knowledge and apply it in your work and project straight away, you will get to work on a project of your choice.

This workshop is eligible for funding support.

Jump-start Workshop Overview:
In the course participants will learn:

  • The basic concepts Neural Networks and an introduction to the mathematics of Deep Learning
  • They will be introduced to the Keras API and how it works as a higher level of abstraction for TensorFlow
  • Building and using TensorFlow native Estimators
  • Building various types of Deep Learning models
  • Building models for Computer Vision challenges
  • Building models for Natural language challenges

The workshop will be held over 2 intensive days and in a group setting. This allows you to quickly learn the skills needed to apply Deep Learning and have access to ask your questions one on one. This is especially useful for understanding how to apply these skills to your unique applications.
 
This workshop is aimed at taking you from no (or little) knowledge to being able to build your own first project in Deep Learning.

Recommended Prerequisites:

  • An interest in Deep Learning
  • Ability to be able to read and follow code
  • We will send out some videos to help you with Python syntax specifically before the course begins.

Instructors’ Biodata:
Dr Martin Andrews
Martin has over 20 years experience in Machine Learning and has used it to solve problems in financial modeling and has created AI automation for companies. His current area of focus and specialty is in natural language processing and understanding. In 2017, Google appointed Martin as one of the first 12 Google Developer Experts for Machine Learning.

Sam Witteveen
Sam has used Machine Learning and Deep Learning in building multiple tech start-ups, including a children’s educational app provider which has over 4 million users worldwide. His current focus is AI for conversational agents to allow humans to interact easier and faster with computers. In 2017, Google appointed Sam as one of the first 12 Google Developer Experts for Machine Learning in the world.

An initiative of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) supports nation-wide manpower and skills upgrading programmes.

Criteria for e2i Funding Support eligibility:

  • participant must be a Singaporean or a Singapore Permanent Resident
  • company-sponsored participant must not be from a Public Agency (includes but not limited to Ministries, Statutory Boards, Organisation of State, etc)
  • achieves 100% workshop attendance
  • must complete & submit a survey form after the online registration to fulfil funding requirements

UTAP
Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) is an individual skill upgrading account for NTUC members. As a member, you will enjoy UTAP funding up to 50% of the unfunded^ course fee, capped at $250 every year.
