Overview
Prof Ooi Beng Chin is a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and an adjunct Chang Jiang Professor at Zhejiang University, China. He obtained his BSc (1st Class Honors) and PhD fromMonash University, Australia, in 1985 and 1989 respectively. He is a co-founder of yzBigDatain 2012 for Big Data Management and analytics, and Shentilium Technologies in 2016 for AI- and data-driven Financial data analytics, and an advisory council member of a Fintech company, Cynopsis Solutions.
Prof Ooi and his PHD student Wang Wei, who specialises in researching deep learning systems (e.g. memory and runtime optimization) and applications (e.g. multi-modal data analysis), have been working on the Apache SINGA Deep Learning Framework out of Singapore. Apache SINGA is now in the AWS marketplace, and will be included into Aliyun and other clouds in the near future.
